ElkNut for Apple TV — Privacy Policy

Effective 28 August 2026. This policy covers the ElkNut app for Apple TV. Our general privacy notice, which covers gotgametech.com and our iPhone and iPad apps, remains at gotgametech.com/privacy-policy and applies except where this page says otherwise.

What the Apple TV app does not do

The Apple TV app does not access location, microphone, camera, photos or contacts. It contains no advertising and no third-party advertising, analytics or tracking software. We do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we do not sell or share your personal information. You cannot create an account or make a purchase on the Apple TV.

Because typing a password on a TV remote is miserable, ElkNut uses a link code. The TV displays a short code and a QR image. You approve that code on your phone, or at elknut.app/link, while signed in to your existing ElkNut account. Only after you approve it does the Apple TV gain access to your account.

  • Link codes are single use and expire ten minutes after they appear.

  • Approving a code requires you to already be signed in on your phone or on the web.

  • The TV must also present a secret issued with the code, so knowing a code by itself never grants access to an account.

  • Pending codes are deleted as soon as they are used or expire.

What we collect on Apple TV

  • Account identifiers — your ElkNut user ID and the email address on your account, so the app can show your library, favorites and PRO access. Your email is displayed on the Account screen.

  • Playback activity — when you play a video or audio lesson we record which item you played and when, linked to your account. We use this to power continue-watching and trending lists, to understand which lessons are used, and to report usage to the instructors whose content you watch.

  • Favorites and preferences — what you save, so it stays consistent with your other devices.

  • Subscription status — whether your account has PRO access. Purchases are made on your phone or at elknut.app, never on the Apple TV, so no payment information is entered on or stored by the TV app.

  • Delivery data — to stream what you asked to play, our media provider receives the network request and the IP address it is sent from.

What is stored on the Apple TV itself

A sign-in token, your user ID and your account email are stored in the Apple TV’s system keychain so that you stay signed in between sessions. Choosing Sign Out on the Account screen removes them from that Apple TV.

Shared device — please read

An Apple TV is normally shared by everyone in a household. Once your account is linked, anyone using that Apple TV can see your account email, your favorites and your viewing activity, and can watch your PRO content, without entering a password. This is how all signed-in TV apps work, but it is worth knowing. If that is not what you want — or before you sell, return or give away the device — open Account and choose Sign Out.

Service providers

These companies process data on our behalf under contract and may not use it for their own purposes: Google Firebase (sign-in and database), Bunny (video and audio delivery), and Google Cloud (hosting our API). The Apple TV app sends data to no one else.

How long we keep it

Link codes are deleted when they are used, or when they expire, within ten minutes. Playback records, favorites and account information are kept while your account is active and are removed when you delete your account.

Your choices and rights

  • Unlink a TV — open Account on the Apple TV and choose Sign Out.

  • Delete your account — this cannot be done from the Apple TV, because the Apple TV app does not create accounts. Delete it in the ElkNut app on your iPhone or iPad (Settings, then Delete account), or email us and we will do it for you.

  • Access, correct or export your data — email support@gotgametech.com.

  • Regional rights — depending on where you live, for example the EEA, the UK or California, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port or object to the processing of your information. Contact us and we will honor it. We do not sell or share personal information as California law defines those terms.

Children

ElkNut is made for adult hunters and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the effective date at the top and post the current version on this page.
